Kirjais Kursgård convention center is located in the beautiful southern archipelago of Turku on the Kirjais island close to a village bearing the same name. The convention center is easily accessible both by road and from the sea. The road leads right up to the main building and coming from the sea it is only a few hundred meter's walk from the guest harbor.
Built in 1922-23, the main building originally served as an elementary school for the children from the Kirjais island as well as the nearby islands. The school operated until the mid 60's. During the last 10 to 15 years the activity has been focusing on arranging summer camps and "nature school" camps for children. This activity will continue an it will be further developed.
Since the autumn 2003 we have developed the service we can offer especially in the autumn, winter and spring months. We will extend the use of the old main building with its spacious main room where it is ideal to hold seminars and conferences, or to entertain larger groups of people when there is a need for more space.
The main building can hold a maximum of 118 people, but ideally you would arrange parties or dinners for groups up to 80 people depending on requirements for seating and other needs. The main room is ideal for seminars or conferences for groups up to 40 people, and in the near future we are able to accommodate even larger groups. We have a total of 40 beds in the main building and the neighboring log cabin.
As of year 2005 we have extended our lodging capacity with three new, highly equipped cabins. This extension gives us an additional capacity of 24 beds in total.
Close to the main building there is a separate sauna building with showers and a room with a fireplace where you can relax.
